Native GoLocal! app
Preview: the native app is not publicly distributed yet. Request access before subscribing for this installation.
Translate public headings, navigation, labels and dynamic content. Installation depends on your platform, plan, theme and access to the top-level page. A code recipe is not a claim that a native marketplace app is released.
Tested on the documented demo, not a guarantee for every theme, extension or private page. Follow the acceptance checklist on your own staging site.
1. Connect your Wix site in three steps
Connect Wix to GoLocal! through the installed app: verify your site, choose a project and test the published page. No code or project-key copying.
Open the installed app in Wix
Open Wix, choose the correct site and open GoLocal from its app dashboard. Use the native app entry, not a bookmarked setup URL. This securely identifies your site. The native app is still a preview: if it is not installed, request access before subscribing specifically for Wix.
Wix → Apps → Manage Apps → GoLocal
Connect a project you own
Sign in to the GoLocal account that owns the project. Wix supplies the verified site and published domain; you do not type the domain or copy a key. One matching project is selected automatically. Choose one if there are several, or create it here if none exists. Review public-text translation and visitor-counting consent, then connect.
GoLocal → Sign in → select/create project → consent → Connect
Test the published website
Wait for Wix-confirmed connection, open your published site and choose a widget language. Publish the Wix site first if it has never been published; check a real page, not only editor preview. Test navigation, forms and mobile layout. Keep one native installation; do not add a second GoLocal script through Custom Code.
Connected — Wix confirmed the script → Open your site
Setup link expired or opened without Wix?
The setup session lasts 10 minutes. Reopen GoLocal from the installed app on the correct Wix site; refreshing an old setup bookmark does not renew it. The recovery button takes you to Wix, where you choose the site. Expiry does not disable your existing connection, delete translations or require a new project.
The native app is free to install. Translation uses a separate GoLocal service plan and its limits. Connecting or pausing the app neither purchases nor cancels a subscription. Public marketplace distribution and independent-account acceptance are not claimed.
2. Before enabling: protect saved customer content
Input, textarea and editable-area values stay untouched. Displayed customer names, reviews and database notes are different: configure stable container selectors in the project’s exclusion field before enabling translation. Ask your site developer if you cannot identify those containers. Do not put a loader in an HTML iframe; it cannot translate the parent Wix page.
GoLocal project → Widget Settings → Exclude from Translation
3. Translation Editor
Review AI wording in the Translation Editor. Manual corrections take priority over automatic translations. Open pages poll for updated translation bundles; changes appear asynchronously, not necessarily in the same second. A network failure keeps the original text visible instead of hiding it repeatedly.
4. Test before release
Switch English → French → English. Check menus, popups, delayed content and mobile layout. Type accented text into forms and rich-text editors, save and reopen it: the stored value must match. Check excluded customer names, selection values and filters. Edit one manual translation and confirm every matching visible instance updates. Test slow or failed requests: originals must remain visible.
5. Multilingual SEO
The widget changes the visible client-side interface. It does not create localized URLs, translate server-rendered HTML, checkout or email, or guarantee search rankings. For indexed language pages, use your platform’s native localization with dedicated URLs, self-canonicals and reciprocal hreflang. Do not run two translators over the same content.
6. Pause, resume and verify your saved work
Pause disables the native script for new page loads; reload already-open pages. Resume requires explicit consent again. The project, cache and manual corrections are kept. Open the project from the connection page to manage languages, exclusions and Translation Editor. Manual corrections appear after the normal visible-tab polling interval, not guaranteed instant push. Revisit a translated page to check cache reuse.
